The Cincinnati Bengals wrapped up their preseason with a 27-14 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, finishing the preseason 0-3. It's just the preseason so that's no big deal, but there were some stand-out performers again against the Colts in the finale. Which guys stood out the most, and who made the biggest impressions?

    Maema Njongmeta

Maema Njongmeta has been nothing if not impressive through three preseason games. The undrafted rookie from Wisconsin continued to impress once again against the Colts. Tying for the team lead with 11 tackles. He finishes the preseason with 29 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two passes defended.

Consistent play throughout the preseason should have earned Njongmeta a roster spot. Finding someone with his IQ, and willingness to play hard on every play as an undrafted rookie is something The Cincinnati Bengals should be stoked about. Adding Njongmeta to the linebacker room would just be another versatile piece for Lou Anarumo and company.

    Jordan Battle

Safety of the future for The Cincinnati Bengals? Jordan Battle showed flashes last season that he could be a starter in the NFL as a rookie. In the Bengals preseason finale against the Colts, Battle had his best game of the preseason. Finishing the game with six tackles, one pass defended, and one pick-six.

Now having Vonn Bell back in Cincy, he's going to have a reliable Veteran in his ear communicating with him, showing him leadership, and mentoring him for when it's Battles’ time to take over.

    Jermaine Burton

Jermaine Burton is proving to everyone that drafting him in the third round was no mistake. Another great performance by the rookie. Against the Indianapolis Colts, Burton had four receptions on five targets for 56 yards and one touchdown. This brings his preseason total to eight receptions on 10 targets for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Cincinnati.

Burton has all but surely secured his spot on the roster this preseason. How far up the depth chart will he be able to climb during his rookie season is still to be seen. With Tyler Boyd no longer on the roster, the WR three spot is still up for grabs with him competing with Andrei Iosivas in Cincinnati.

    Final Thoughts

The Cincinnati Bengals have a lot of bright spots to look forward to going into the regular season. The guys listed above have had a great preseason, and how they want to contribute. With high expectations expect the Bengals to compete once again for the AFC North crown, and be a top contender in the AFC. Expect these guys to contribute in some way before the season ends.
