Bundesliga 24/25: Teams to Watch

The Bundesliga 24/25 season is fast approaching. Last season ended with Bayer Leverkusen achieving an impressive record while winning the league. Leverkusen won the league, alongside completing an unbeaten feat. Xabi Alonso’s side played all 34 games without losing any.

They also continued to win the DFB Pokal Cup and ended the season with a double. Leverkusen could have also continued their unbeaten in all tournaments alongside winning a treble, however, Atlanta stunned them in the Europa final.

Bayern Munich who challenged Xabi Alonso’s side for the majority of the season fell badly to third in the table in the Bundesliga, while Stuttgart who has been in blistering form rose above them. However, with the new season ahead, all teams have updated their squad, and looking to fight for the Bundesliga 24/25 trophy.

Bundesliga 24/25 Season

The Bundesliga will return on the 23rd of August. The defending Champions Bayer Leverkusen will kickstart the season facing off against Borussia Monchengladbach. The Bundesliga 24/25 will be the 62 of its kind, and it is expected to be wrapped up on the 17th of May 25.

In this new season, there are two newly promoted sides taking the place of FC Koln and Darmstadt who finished 17th and 18th last season. The new teams are of the FC St. Pauli and Holstein Kiel who took first and second respectively in the 2. Bundesliga.

The league will still maintain its 18 teams, which are namely: Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfB Stuttgart, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Mainz 05, RB Leipzig, Werder Bremen, Eintracht Frankfurt, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, VfL Wolfsburg, FC Augsburg, Union Berlin, VfL Bochum, FC St. Pauli, SC Freiburg, Heidenheim, Holstein Kiel.

Bayern Munich

33-time winners Bayern Munich are always the first to be reckoned with in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich who for the first time failed to win the last season since 2013, is still a big threat this season. The Bavarians won the league 11 times from 2013 to 2023. Now they’ve added more depth to their already formidable squad bringing in the likes of Michael Olise, and Joao Pahlinha from the EPL.

Bayern Munich relieved Thomas Tuchel of his job, giving room for a more enthusiastic Vincent Kompany for the job. They’ll be hoping to challenge to win it this season despite their disappointing end to last.

Bayer Leverkusen

Bundesliga champions will also be looking to defend their title by not taking the foot off the pedal from where they stopped last season. Xabi Alonso’s side still possesses a strong

number of his youthful squad that dominated the league last season. Hopefully, injuries won’t halt their title charge this season. Bayer Leverkusen will kickstart the league on the 23rd of August as they travel to the nearby Monchengladbach. Xabi Alonso’s side will be a team to look forward to this season in the Bundesliga as they look to defend their title.

Stuttgart

Vfb Stuttgart finished second last, being one of the most surprising teams of the season, finishing above Bayern Munich. The five-time Bundesliga showed an amazing feat last season, which was deemed as one of the club’s most impressive seasons of all time. Stuttgart had their former striker Serhou Guirassy break Stuttgart all all-time goal scorer record.

Guirassy alongside his teammate Denis Undav were also was part of the top goalscorers worldwide. However, Guirassy left during this summer window for Dortmund, leaving them with Denis Undav. Nonetheless, Stuttgart will still be a team to watch this season, as they still have the majority of their main stars available.

Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund finished fifth last season in the Bundesliga, which was a bit disappointing for the club. However, their performance in the Champions League was a form of solace for them. They finished as runners-up in the UCL, losing to Real Madrid. This still showed a sign that Dortmund is still a team to reckon with in the Bundesliga.

A few challenges had affected them last season hindering them from achieving a good feat in the league last. Now they’ve started rectifying some by securing the signing of Stuttgart’s sensational striker Guirassy. And with Nuri Sahin in charge, the Club will look forward to a bright season ahead.

RB Leipzig

Leipzig is also a team to watch in the Bundesliga. They managed to finish fourth in the league last season, rising above Dortmund. Whilst having an impressive run in the Champions League. They also won the DFL Super Cup last season defeating Bayern Munich 3-0 thanks to Dani Olmo’s Hattrick.

However, the Spaniard who is now no longer their player has signed for Barcelona. In return, Leipzig made the effort to secure another loan signing of the Dutch star Xavi Simons, who partook with their team last season. And this time another one-year loan for him. With a new season ahead they look to challenge for the league once again.
