Where Fallout 5 Needs to Go

The world of Fallout takes place in various locations across the United States. Each game has its own post-apocalyptic spin on real locations and communities. However, there are areas of the country where the series has yet to explore that the story of Fallout 5 could end up. One of those just happens to be The Sunshine State itself. The games have taken players to the West Coast, New England, Southern Appalachia, and more. It's never actually fully explored southern states. And what better state to change that around than to put Fallout 5 in the beautiful and sometimes crazy state of Florida?

Fallout 5 in Florida

Founded on March 3, 1845, Florida continues to be a home for plentiful sunshine, tourism, attractions, and much more. It offers a rich reserve of possibilities for sights and stories that Bethesda can easily tap into for Fallout 5. The same thing could be said about most states in the United States, but Florida offers up a little extra oomph. It can take players through its diverse ecosystems and an abundance of real-world locations that can easily be translated into the style of Fallout. Specifically, the areas within South Florida would make for a fun and story-rich experience.

Enter the Everglades

Perhaps the main reason that South Florida would be such an amazing choice for a Fallout 5 setting is the Everglades. Yes, the beaches that line the region are great environments to explore as well. However, the Everglades and what lurks within can make for a thrilling time. Thanks to the state's tropical climate and how wetlands tend to foster a giant diversity of life, the area has become home to fearsome and even invasive animals. Fallout fans are no strangers to the monsters that the radiation left behind from the Great War has created. Mirelurks, bloatflies, radscorpions, and many more force players to deal with their hunger and fury.

The Everglades offer Bethesda the chance to develop its roster of mutated monsters even further. Just picture what horrors that -generations of mutation could turn a Burmese python, lionfish, or wild boar into. Along with introducing new crazy-looking creatures, the Gatorclaw could perhaps make a return. That creature is found within the Nuka-World DLC for Fallout 4. The Mutant Crocodile could also make it into the game because Florida is home to American crocodiles. That creature was rumored to appear in Fallout Tactics 2 before the game was sadly canceled. The game was supposedly meant to take place in an area like the Everglades.

Explore Interesting Locations

The Fallout games are known for incorporating real-world locations into their scenery. Within the Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3, the entire DC metropolitan area could be explored, including the National Mall. In Fallout 4, the famous Fenway Park was transformed into Diamond City, where the Sole Survivor can potentially find a new home. That's just only one example of the abundant historic locations found within that game.

Florida has no shortage of possibilities for that since it is one of the most popular states for tourism in the United States. In South Florida alone, there are plentiful beaches, gardens, museums, and wildlife adventures. While those attractions would be mostly irreparable and irradiated within Fallout 5, they would still be fun to explore. Just imagine the player character strolling through the once beautiful city of Naples only to run into a school of angelfish that has somehow sprouted spiny legs.

Final Thoughts

While Fallout 5 hasn't even been announced yet, future players of the game will continue to wonder where it will take place. While there are many places that will spell a wonder post-apocalyptic time, it's about time the series visits the southeast. So far, Fallout 76 has gotten closest to it as it takes place within West Virginia. Until a game in the series sets foot in the region, it shall remain untapped potential for an amazing time.
