Kansas City Chiefs Sign Star WR Ju Ju Smith-Schuster

The Kansas City Chiefs shook the NFL on Monday as they announced that they would resign one of their familiar faces: Wide Receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Now 27 years old, Smith-Schuster will return to the Chiefs after a year with the New England Patriots. He joined the Kansas City Chiefs before the start of the 2022 season and made some important contributions to them en route to their Super Bowl win. As the Chiefs wrap up their preparations for yet another season, looking to bag their third straight Super Bowl title, let us take a closer look at what it is supposed to mean with this re-signing for the team.

JuJu Smith-Schuster Returns To Kansas City Chiefs

JuJu Smith-Schuster is quite familiar to the Chiefs faithful. He signed with the team before the 2022 season and helped the Kansas City Chiefs win the Super Bowl, finishing with seven catches for 53 yards in that championship-winning performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, meanwhile, signed a three-year, $33 million deal with the New England Patriots before the 2023 season, and that happened after a decent showing in his one season with the Kansas City Chiefs. He, however, had a poor season with the Patriots. He had only 29 receptions for 260 yards this season, which made the Patriots release him earlier this month.

Now, as the Kansas City Chiefs gear up for their third straight Super Bowl, Smith-Schuster may be able to provide some depth to their receiving core that has been lacking. He has battled through some injuries but has proved to be a valuable player over the past couple of seasons. The fact that he is familiar with the system and has had previous success leaves him well positioned for another strong season

    Best Season of Smith-Schuster

Smith-Schuster had his best season in 2018 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had 111 receptions to go with 1,426 receiving yards, seven touchdowns, and, of course, a Pro Bowl berth. This performance stands as one of the best in his career and shows his level of play.

With Patrick Mahomes at the helm, Smith-Schuster could fit in very well on an offense looking to make more plays. His experience and past success will be needed to shore up the receiving options for the Chiefs. They are already running an aggressive offense, but with Smith-Schuster joining their ranks, they might become even stronger.

As he returns to the Kansas City Chiefs, the key question is how he will fit into the team's current lineup. The coaching staff will work very fast to get him up to speed. His performance will be key to the team's Super Bowl aspirations.
