Maxx Crosby Has High Hopes for Raiders This Season

When you hear the name Maxx Crosby or see him in action, one word springs to mind: Intensity. It's hard to believe that "The Condor" is the only remaining draft pick from 2019 still on the Las Vegas Raiders and was taken in the fourth round. Since then, Maxx Crosby has become a household name, especially in Raider Nation. His work ethic has become one of the subjects discussed the most in training camp every year.

Maxx Crosby is arguably the most dominant pass rusher in the NFL today. Unfortunately, that may not always translate into joy for his teammates, at times, particularly those on offense. He is often described as the guy who frustrates the offense in practice because he's always going at 100%, all the time.

Crosby even got into a scuffle with recent undrafted acquisition, Center Will Putnam, when he got into it with Robert Spillane, the almost intense as Maxx, Raider Linebacker. Crosby ripped off Putnam's helmet and threw it out of frustration.

Buying Into The Maxx Crosby Work Ethic

The Raiders defense certainly made some noise last year, especially in the second half, where they finished in the top 10 across the league. Despite the strides they have made, somehow there has been little confidence from critics who feel it might have been a fluke.

Maxx Crosby sees this as motivation to prove them all wrong by the way he leads the defense. The man has an obsession with combat sports like boxing and mixed martial arts, where he has even stepped into the octagon to spar with Sean Strickland and Dominick Cruz.

Why The Raiders Drafted 'Mad Maxx'

Crosby also boxes after every practice, as part of his routine, to work on his hand speed, different techniques, and judging distances to improve his skills on the field. Aside from his work ethic, there is a particular reason why Mark Davis, owner of the Raiders, liked what he saw in Maxx Crosby. He saw something very familiar about his stature and the way he moved around the field.

That tall, lean frame with the long arms and legs were eerily similar to another, former Raider and All-Pro, Ted Hendricks. Of course, he also attained the bird moniker of "The Mad Stork" because of his relentless and ferocious style of play. Crosby is much like Hendricks with his style of play but, unfortunately, the Raiders teams he has been a part of have yet to reach the same levels.

Looking To Change The Narrative In 2024

Maxx Crosby intends to change the narrative of the lack of success the team has had in recent years. He sees himself as a staple of the organization but wants this team to be known as a "staple of winning" because making the playoffs only once in his five years doesn't sit well with him. T

he Raiders start the season at the Chargers and at the Ravens, which will be a useful measuring stick to see just how good this defense is. One thing is for sure, Maxx Crosby will not disappoint in showcasing his intensity and ability to disrupt an offense all game. Fans will have to wait and see if his wishes and beliefs come to fruition.
