Matt Brown Blames Fighters for Their Pay

Famous fighters like Conor McGregor and Matt Brown are moving towards the business side of Combat Sports. McGregor has been out of the Octagon for three years due to an injured toe. During these years, he has pushed his businesses to become multi-million-dollar enterprises. Conversely, Brown spent 16 years in Combat Sports but has never focused on the pay-per-view earnings or winning a championship.

But he learned a lot about the other side of UFC, on which few fighters are focused on. He learned about the promotions and how they work. Based on the knowledge and experience he gained over those years, he now claims that the fighters' pay depends on the fighters themselves.

    Matt Brown Talks About Payouts

Fighters have been constantly complaining about the salaries UFC has been giving them. They believe that the company keeps most of the money and gives them a small portion. Brown has the contrary belief.

He believes it’s true that the UFC is paying fighters very little compared to the large sums of money they’re making themselves. Just asking to raise the salaries of fighters is not the solution to the problem, but fighters need to understand the situation and consider it from UFC's perspective.

"They’re running a business, and they run it very well. They’ve done an amazing job building their business. I think 99 percent of people in their shoes would be doing very similar to what they’re doing. Does that make it right? That’s up to each person to decide on their own. I think it’s just way more complex than people give it credit for."

    Hold UFC Accountable

Brown blamed the fighters and himself for the situation they are in. He wants the fighters to hold UFC accountable and ask them about the salaries they should be paid. He wants the fighters to know that they cannot expect more from the business owners if they don't stand up for themselves.

Because UFC will always try to raise their profits. And fighters will fight their whole lives and realize at retirement that they haven't earned enough money. He blamed himself, "I never fought against the UFC about my pay. You’ve seen different interviews on Instagram and Twitter where the fighters stick up for the UFC."

    Final Thoughts

UFC fighters are always complaining about the pay. This is the aspect on which UFC should be focused and it needs to be solved as soon as possible. Otherwise, the result of this might be the downfall of the company. What are your thoughts about the pay of UFC fighters and the opinion of Matt Brown? Let us know in the comment section.
