    DJ Giddens 2024 Devy Outlook

Out of Junction City High School in Junction City, Kansas, DJ Giddens was unrated as a recruit in the class of 2021. Giddens redshirted during his true freshman year, then burst onto the scene in 2022 for the Kansas State Wildcats. That season, he played in every game and was named the Big XII Offensive Freshman of the Year and ranked third in school history for rushing yards by a freshman with 518 yards.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2023, Giddens started all 13 games and led the team in rushing with 1,226 yards. He was named to the All-Big XII honorable mention team and finished 18th in the country in rushing yards. He also finished seventh among all power five running backs with 69 forced missed tackles.

    DJ Giddens as a Player

Giddens has a prototypical running back size at 6’1” and 212 lbs. His vision and array of moves allow him to be effective in between the tackles and on the perimeter. Giddens isn’t a speedster, but he does possess enough juice to run away in the open field.

He is truly a dual-threat option out of the backfield with his route running and hands. In 2023, Giddens had 29 receptions for 323 yards and three touchdowns. He led all Big XII running backs and finished fourth nationally among RBs with an 11.1 yards per reception average.

    DJ Giddens Devy Outlook

His redshirt sophomore year put him on the NFL Draft radar and he will have a legitimate choice to make after the 2024 season. If he were to come out after this season, he could be a top-five running back or potentially even drop to towards the nine to ten range due to the abundance of draft-eligible running backs. If he were to wait until the 2026 NFL Draft, he would likely be a top-three drafted running back.

In my devy rankings, DJ Giddens is ranked as the eighth overall running back and sixth among 2025 draft-eligible RBs. I believe his ceiling is RB3, with an RB14 floor…depending on medicals and testing. The depth at the running back position is the strength of the 2025 NFL Draft. Giddens will have to compete with the likes of TreVeyon Henderson, Ollie Gordon, Quinshon Judkins, Neal, and a slew of others for NFL teams’ attention.
