In 2021, Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells lost a football game, 25-24, to his friend Chris Klieman, Kansas State's head coach. That loss dropped Tech to 5-3 on the season and led to his in-season dismissal. Two-plus seasons later, Wells is serving as associate head coach under Klieman at K-State.

The Galena Parks and Recreation Committee achieved the goal of replacing 24 of the 30 Angels along Seventh Street during the Holidays. The committee set a goal of $6,000, which is about $350 per star. This will replace 16 angels, they would like to replace all but set their hopes on a minimum of the 16 which is eight angels west of Main Street and eight angels east of Main Street. The Star of Bethlehem is what was chosen.

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A man accused of using online obituary postings to plan residential burglaries was convicted of all counts by a jury on Monday. Gary Garrett, 50 of Wichita, was charged in three separate cases totaling 27 counts, including three residential burglaries, one attempted residential burglary, one business burglary and multiple counts of theft, forgery and identity theft, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

TOPEKA — On a snowy night in 2004, Jamie Kuykendall was driving home from the store in Topeka when she came up to a traffic light turning red. There was a small amount of snow on the ground. When she hit the brakes, her car wouldn't stop and she slid through the intersection. A Topeka police officer gave Kuykendall a ticket because she did not have a valid driver’s license.
Suspects In Oklahoma Murders Of Kansas Women Appear In Court
A court appearance is held for the five suspects charged in the murders of two Kansas women. Paul Grice, Tad Cullum, Tifany Adams, Cole Twombly and Cora Twombly appeared in Texas County, Oklahoma, Court yesterday to consider consolidating their case and to set a preliminary trial date. The suspects are charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit murder in the deaths of Veronica Butler and Jillian Kelley of Hugoton, Kansas, earlier this year.
