Historical Association to dedicate new marker at Paint Rock Valley School July 28
The July meeting of the Jackson County Historical Association will be held Sunday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at Paint Rock Valley High School in Princeton where they will dedicate a new historical marker recognizing the school years of Paint Rock Valley High School and hear about plans for the building from its administrator, Mike Sims.

Cullman City Council approves purchase of historic church for future Community Theatre
CULLMAN, Ala. – In a significant move to enhance the cultural and performing arts landscape of Cullman, the Cullman City Council on Monday, July 22, 2024, approved the purchase of the historic First United Pentecostal Church building, located at the corner of Third Avenue Northeast and Clark Street Northeast, behind Cullman City Hall. The 6,000-square-foot building, with its beautiful A-frame 40-foot-tall sanctuary, will serve as the future home of the Community Theatre, as well as a venue for other civic and performing arts gatherings.

The Southern Cultural Center will host its third annual “national conference,” this time inviting a former Ku Klux Klan lawyer to join its crop of speakers. Sam Dickson of Atlanta frequently represented the Klan in the courtroom and has since become a real estate mogul while frequently pushing his white nationalist message. He ran for lieutenant governor of Georgia in 1978 on a segregation platform and belongs to numerous extremist groups.
