TOWNOF UNION, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Broome County’s #5 Most Wanted Fugitive was located at a Town of Union apartment on Friday.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Mathew Knapp, 42, of Kirkwood. Knapp was tracked down by the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division and arrested by the US Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force without incident before being transported to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

Knapp has been on the run since May 16 when he absconded from probation for a Sex Offender Registration Violation. Knapp failed to update his address with the New York State Sex Offender Registry after the violation of probation warrant was issued. An additional warrant was issued for Failure to Register Under the Sex Offender Registration Act (Second Offense), a Class D Felony.

“Excellent police work by our Warrants Division and our partners at the US Marshals Regional
Fugitive Task Force in bringing this wanted individual to justice,” said Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar.
