One person was shot in a commercial area of Towson on Sunday afternoon, according to Baltimore County Police.

Police said the shooting occurred in the area of Loch Raven Boulevard and Taylor Avenue. The intersection has numerous businesses and shopping centers on each corner.

The department made a post on the social media platform X at 2:16 p.m. advising that police were still on the scene.

County police wrote in the post that the only information they were able to provide at the time was that a male victim who sustained a gunshot wound had been taken to a hospital. Police did not state whether the shooting occurred inside or outside a business, or where they located the victim.

The shooting follows recent violence at other shopping areas, such as at the Harford Mall in Bel Air , during which one person was shot following an altercation at a child’s birthday party. The suspect in the June, nonfatal shooting was on the run for just under a month before being taken into custody in Anne Arundel County.

Just a few days after the Harford Mall shooting, a man was allegedly stabbed by a group of teenagers in the parking garage of the Towson Town Center. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and three teens were taken into custody.
