A big-rig driver allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with the truck's emergency brake on caused an explosion in Tracy this week, police said.

Officers responded Wednesday at 3:54 a.m. to a report of an explosion and a big-rig on fire near the 400 block of Gandy Dancer Drive.

Police said they located the alleged driver, Daniel Jaime, 35 of Tracy, nearby and he appeared to be drunk.

Police alleged that an investigation determined that the explosion was caused by Jaime, who was driving with the emergency brake on, which resulted in the truck catching fire and the tires of the vehicle exploding.

A field sobriety test and a breathalyzer used on the driver allegedly determined that he was intoxicated. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
