LURAY, Va. – A blaze at a downtown hotel caused significant structural damage and the closure of several streets yesterday. On Wednesday, September 6th, just shy of 1:30 p.m. the Luray Volunteer Fire Department (LFD) was dispatched to the Quality Inn at 410 W Main Street for a reported structure fire.

Luray, Va. – A new report shows that 1.4 million visitors to Shenandoah National Park spent $104 million in surrounding areas in 2022. The National Park Service (NPS) report found that the spending supported 1,240 jobs in the area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $145 million.

75-year-old missing hiker found safe in Shenandoah National Park
LURAY, Va. – On September 1, Shenandoah National Park (SNP) rangers received a report of a missing man. Jerry Bailey, of Springfield, Teneessee, had last been seen Thursday, August 30. Early the next day, SNP rangers launched a full-scale search for the 75-year-old hiker.

ORANGE, Va. - A Gordonsville man was arrested after fleeing from law enforcement on Friday, August 25. That morning, members of the Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force and Virginia State Police encountered the subject at a gas station in the 5500 block of Spotswood Trail in Gordonsville.
Page Co. fugitive captured in Warren Co. after crashing into river
FRONT ROYAL, Va. – A man wanted out of Page County was captured after briefly eluding police on Friday. At approximately 8:45am on Friday, August 25, a silver Chevy Equinox pulled into the parking lot of a 7-Eleven convenience store, located on 14th Street in Front Royal. The female driver exited the vehicle and entered the store, asking employees for help.

School controversy; Administrators tell student to remove American flags from truck ... 'or else'
Moneta, Va. – On Monday, parents unenrolled their son from high school after he was told to remove American flags displayed on his vehicle. Christopher Hartless, a student at Staunton River High School, showed up for classes last week with the large flags mounted on the back of his Toyota Tacoma pick-up. School officials quickly claimed the flags were a distraction, and asked that they be removed.
