Alabama Man Sentenced to 57 Months for Arson in Indiana, Family Home and Pets Lost in Deliberate Blaze
An Alabama man has been sentenced to nearly five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to arson for setting his father's house on fire in Connersville, Indiana, resulting in the death of the family's dog and cat. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Indiana reported that 34-year-old Tommy Lee Harrison Sr. carried out the attack after traveling from his home in Birmingham, Alabama. Harrison will also face two years of supervised release following his 57-month incarceration.

Carmel sues property owner for operating short-term rental illegally
The City of Carmel filed a lawsuit July 11 against the owner of a home on Singletree Court that city officials claim is being illegally operated as a short-term rental. Four days earlier, multiple renters were carried out of the home on stretchers in what appeared to be a “mass drug overdose,” according to Christin Diehl, who lives next door. BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University Bloomington has ranked highly in the recently released U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings for 2024-25. Of the 2,250 universities ranked worldwide, IU Bloomington ranked 135th overall for global impact, the highest of the ranked universities in Indiana. BEDFORD – A Bloomington man was arrested on Tuesday, July 9, after Indiana State Trooper Ben Burris stopped his vehicle for a non-working headlight. Trooper Burris was parked in the medical of State Road 37 near 5th Street around 10:50 p.m. when he noticed a 2003 blue GMC Envoy traveling north with only one working headlight.
