🚧 Overnight Closure of Rt 33 Eastbound Lanes in Harrisonburg for Bridge Work

Attention Harrisonburg residents and commuters: The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced the closure of all eastbound lanes on Route 33. This closure will occur from 8 p.m. on May 13 to 5 a.m. on May 14 and will affect the overpass at I81 exit 247, stretching from Carlton Street to Burgess Road/Linda Lane. The reason for the closure is bridge deck work that is necessary for infrastructure maintenance and safety. During this time, the eastbound Route 33 entrance ramp that leads to I81 Southbound will remain open for drivers. Motorists intending to travel southbound on I81 and needing to access eastbound Route 33 are advised to use I81 exit 247B. Please plan your travel accordingly to accommodate this temporary closure.
