This Middle of Nowhere General Store Has Some of the Best Sandwiches in all of New Jersey

New Jersey is a state abundant with sandwich options. From giant submarine sandwiches to the infamous fat sandwich, no matter what you are craving you'll find it somewhere within the Garden State.

With so many options to choose from, it can be hard to discern which food joints are good, and which ones are great.

Nixon's General Store is one of those places. Hidden in the middle of seemingly nowhere, this charming grocery store and deli is located within the Pien Barrens in the small town of Tabernacle.

Open for well over 100 years, a trip to Nixon's is like taking a step back in time. Here you'll find wood-paneled walls, old-fashioned curtains, and some vintage signage.

Nixon's may look like an ordinary deli, but locals and those who frequent Burlington County know that it's actually one of the best delis in the state. You can buy everything here from homemade jam and relish to chips, cookies, and some of the best sandwiches.

Open for both breakfast and lunch, Nixon's has every type of sandwich you could ever crave. Come in the morning and order a steaming hot pork roll, egg, and cheese. In the afternoon, the deli serves subs piled high with gourmet deli meats. You'll even be able to order the iconic fat sandwich here. These bad boys are topped with chicken nuggets, french fries, cheesesteaks, and just about any other type of fatty food you can dream of.

A total indulgence, Nixon's may be a bit out of the way but it is always worth the detour.
