This Iconic New Jersey Restaurant is Known for One Single Menu Item

There is no shortage of iconic food establishments in the state of New Jersey.

They might not look like much from the outside but once you step inside, you’re in for a real culinary treat.

Jimmy Buff's is one of those places. Located just outside of Newark, this infamous eatery is known for one menu item in particular that's garnered it a cult-like following.

Known as the Italian hot dog, this delicacy was created right here in Jersey by none other than Jimmy "Buff" Racioppi back in 1932. Stuffed within a puffy pizza dough and then loaded with a mixture of fried potatoes, onions, and peppers, this dog is a much heartier alternative to your standard American hot dog.

More than 90 years later, most NJ residents claim that the best Italian hot dog in the state can be found right where it began.

Jimmy Buff's has changed locations a few times throughout the years but it's still got that old-school hot dog stand vibe.

The menu here is also the same as it's been since they opened back in the 30s. Patrons can choose between hot dogs, hamburgers, and sandwiches prepared "Italian style" with onions, peppers, and potatoes or simply opt for the American version. The restaurant also offers an array of sides like thick mozzarella sticks and beer-battered onion rings.
