We all know places like San Fransisco and New York City have long been havens for queer folks.

But what about America's smaller communities? In between the urban hubs, social progress is being made in America’s smaller towns and cities as well. Even in places where you’d least expect it.

The travel site known as Out Coast has compiled a list of America's most LGBTQ-Friendly small towns and two towns in New Jersey have made the list.

Located along the Jersey Shore, Asbury Park has long been an LGBTQ mecca for those looking to spend some time along the beach in the summertime. As Out Coast reports, the small city has several gay bars and a stretch of beach between 4th and 5th Avenues where queer folks are known to set up camp.

Lambertville, New Jersey was also mentioned in the article. This small town is located along the Delaware River across from New Hope, PA where both towns host one of the biggest gay pride parades in the state. Fun fact: Lambertville was also the site of the first official gay marriage in the state of New Jersey.
