Xiao Ye, a “first generation American food” restaurant in the Hollywood District and Eater Portland’s Best New Restaurant in 2023, is serving summer lunch on a limited basis starting Friday, August 2. This will be the first time the restaurant has a dedicated lunch menu. Available only on Fridays, the menu will feature spins on dishes like a classic BLT with bacon, lettuce, heirloom tomato, and Kewpie mayo on milk bread, as well as rigatoni all’Amatriciana. For something lighter, look to the build-your-own snack spread, which comes with a baguette and choice of butter, anchovies, creme fraiche, and more. Xiao Ye’s signature mini madeleines will also be available.

Revolving around variations on “suan cai yu”, a white fish and fermented cabbage stew spiked with Sichuan peppercorns and Chinese chili peppers, the restaurant is replacing Shentan BBQ in the Convoy Street plaza that also houses Tsuruhashi Japanese BBQ and Mekong Cuisine Lao & Thai and is expected to open this October after an extensive renovation of the space.
