WHITEHALL — The photo from the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office tells the story. Luke, the department’s drug-sniffing dog, sits beside a large pile of plastic bags after a major bust.

The drugs came to a total of 30 pounds of marijuana and another pound of methamphetamine, and Luke looks very pleased with himself.

According to the department, a traffic stop on I-94 kicked things off in the early morning hours Saturday. While a release from the department doesn’t specify why the driver was pulled over, it says there were “several indicators of criminal activity” by the driver during the stop.

Luke came in and reacted to the vehicle, prompting a search. Two large duffle bags held the drugs as well as drug paraphernalia. Danny Reynolds, the driver, was arrested.

Wisconsin’s online court database did not yet list specific charges Monday morning.
