G-E-T performing arts center to pause outside shows
The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Performing Arts Center will take a break from a full schedule of hosting external performances. The performing arts center, commonly referred to as the PAC, was finished in November 2020 and saw its first full year of use, including a slate of external performances, in 2022-23 before another full season in 2023-24.

Kwik Trip breaks ground on new DeForest distribution center
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WMTV) - Kwik Trip announced Tuesday an upcoming groundbreaking on a new distribution center in DeForest. The La Crosse-based company says the 280,000-square-foot facility will service 350 Kwik Trip stores when complete and include freezer, cooler and dry good space as well as four air conditioning rooms for banana ripening.

Egg decorating class at Arts Center July 20
On Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., join us at the Winona Arts Center for an English flower egg decorating class by Jane Bangsberg. Students will create English flower eggs. They will bind live flowers and leaves on to blown-out eggs with slips of fabric. The eggs will be dyed in an onion skin dye bath. The fabric and flowers will be removed to reveal the finished egg. Students should bring an assortment of flowers and leaves from their gardens to be shared, along with a pair of scissors. All other supplies will be furnished. Cost for the class is $35 for members and $40 for nonmembers.
Mississippi Sippin concert a success
The Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM) in Winona held its first concert in the 2024 Mississippi Sippin Series on Thursday, June 27. The Mike Munson Trio was the featured music group, and the group played a live set outdoors along the riverwalk. With over 250 people in attendance, the light rain did not stop the attendees from enjoying the concert and the view of the Mississippi River.
Flood forces Prairie Island campers out
WINONA, Minn. – With the Prairie Island Campground under water, most recreational vehicles have been towed home or at least to higher ground. Jamie Schell, manager, said it’s hoped the flood will recede by July 8 so the 170-stall campground can repopulate. RV slots rent for $175 to $215 a week. Meanwhile, staff who live seasonally in pick-up mounted campers are remaining as long as possible, Schell said.
