Five Jersey Shore beaches under fecal bacteria advisories on Tuesday, July 2
Five Jersey Shore beaches are under advisories for high levels of fecal bacterial on Tuesday, July 2, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Fecal bacteria, or enterococci, is common in the excrement and intestines of animals, and was found in high levels in water samples collected at each of the five beaches on July 1. The bacteria is used as an indicator species to signify the likelihood that other illness-causing microbes, viruses or parasites are present in water.

Taste Trenton, the capital city’s restaurant event featuring area restaurants in a self-guided tour throughout Trenton has announced plans to organize a 10-day event for its September 2024 showcase of culinary options in the city. Newly titled as “10 Crucial Days of Dining”, the effort maintains its signature restaurant crawl elements of small sampling plates at reduced prices with a more traditional restaurant week in which patrons can go to a restaurant for a regular multi-course meal at a special price. Ten Crucial Days of Dining will begin on Friday, September 13 and continue through Sunday, September 22.

Changes coming to temporary registration tags from NJ Motor Vehicle
On July 1, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission announced that it will begin distributing new temporary registration tags or “temp tags.”. The new tags are set up with a new format that will enhance security features and reduce fraud. This change follows the P.L.2023, c.285 law which aimed to authorize new tags with security measures and procedures. The law also establishes penalties and fines to those who knowingly possess, issue, or display fraudulent temporary tags.
