Road resurfacing around the Trenton-Morrisville Toll Bridge begins Thursday, with lane closures through Saturday.

Traffic will funnel into a single lane on Route 1 approaching the bridge from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, going north from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. The northbound route is normally three lanes wide.

The Trenton-Morrisville Toll Bridge is the bridge commission's second-busiest bridge, with an average of 53,300 vehicle crossings per day.

The Delaware River Joint Bridge Toll Commission advised that drivers may see "moderate travel delays" in the construction zone, which extends from the Delaware Canal viaduct on the Pennsylvania side in Morrisville to beyond the underpass at South Broad Street in Trenton on the New Jersey side.

How long will work on Trenton-Morrisville bridge project last?

The entire project, which involves repaving lanes, shoulders and ramps in both directions, and resealing and repairing concrete on the bridge, is expected to last through October. A spokesperson for the bridge commission did not specify when work would begin on the southbound route, saying only that it would happen "later on during the project."

Road-Con Incorporated is doing the roadwork, after winning a contract for up to $5.98 million last month. The commission-owned segments of Route 1 haven't been renewed since 2014.
