    Scrappers end skid with win over Thunder

    NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning Valley Scrappers held off the Trenton Thunder on Friday night for a 6-4 win to snap an eight-game losing streak.

    Mahoning Valley saw runs batted in from Will Shannon, Beau Ankeney and three from Garret Pike. He would also finish the day 2-for-3 at the plate with a run to lead the team in hits.

    Scrappers starting pitcher Charlie McDaniel tossed 6 innings while striking out 7 batters during the no decision. In relief, Terry Busse pitched one clean inning with a strikeout while picking up the win.

    For Trenton, 19-year-old Japanese phenom Rintaro Sasaki went 1-for-4 with a run batted in during the loss.

    The Scrappers improve to 9-12 on the season with the win and will face off with the Thunder at Eastwood Field again on Saturday, June 29 with a scheduled first pitch of 7:05 p.m.
