Troup Volunteer Fire Department auctioning off station building, land

TROUP, Texas ( KETK ) – The Troup Volunteer Fire Department announced that they are taking bids for the building and land currently being used for Troup VFD Station 3.

The 0.665 acre tract of land and the station building are located at 707 Noble Street in Troup. Troup VFD Fire Chief Tim Mager said they plan on closing the station and will be selling the building and the land.

On Tuesday, Smith County Emergency Services District 2 released a statement of support for Troup auctioning off Station 3.

“Station 3 was a building asset owned by the Troup Volunteer Fire Department that was no longer an efficient use of resources. Removing this building from the list of assets assigned to Troup Volunteer Fire Department will not disrupt the response time to the Troup community,” ESD2 said. “Smith County Emergency Services District 2 currently staffs certified, professional firefighters at Station 146 located at 204 E Wilkinson Dr. Troup, along with 10 additional fire stations throughout Smith County. Troup Volunteer Fire Department serves as a contracted service provider to Smith County ESD 2.”
