Troy native Quintarries Upshaw has written a book titled, “The Journey of Broken Folk” and upon its release, has plans for a book signing in Troy.

Upshaw is a graduate of Charles Henderson High School and a Troy University Trojan. He now teaches in Pensacola and remains involved in music as he was in Troy.

“The book covers various traumas and what they might look like to the next individual,” Upshaw said. “I’ve gotten reviews from professors in social work and psychology and they have shared simple words such as ‘beautifully written,’ ‘a trauma junkie’s masterpiece ‘and ‘the ugly truth.’”

What makes this book so special to Upshaw is that he drew from his own life and experiences, and often times overthinking and creating scenarios.

“As a child, I considered myself to be an audio-visual learner, often acting the roles out in my head,” he said. “The stories that I created are personable and rips the scab off the hidden side of society.”

“The Journey of Broken Folk” is a tough to read, Upshaw said. “But makes one heck of a read.

The release of “The Journey of Broken Folk” and local book signing will be announced.
