East Tennessee students rally against state book bans
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Students are upset about changes coming to school libraries this fall. Back in 2022, Governor Bill Lee signed "The Age Appropriate Materials Act" into law. But this year, lawmakers added even more specific restrictions. The changes to that law require schools to pull books with content deemed "sexual" or "excessively violent."
Truck Strikes Moving Train in Martin
Today at noon the Martin Police Department received a call about a vehicle striking a moving train car on Industrial Park Drive. Officers responded along with Martin Fire/Rescue. It was discovered that a Chevrolet pickup had failed to stop at the railroad crossing and struck a moving train car as it was traveling near Stanley Black and Decker.
Series of fires under investigation, reward offered for information
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities are offering a reward for information following a series of fires in Gibson County. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, on Thursday, fires were set to ditch banks, election signs, mailboxes, and garbage cans. These fires occurred in the areas of Milan, Medina and Gann.
