College football teams throughout the country are preparing for what should be an interesting 2023 season as the new season approaches. A strong quarterback from Metro Atlanta is quietly making ripples amid all this anticipation and is prepared to make his mark at West Virginia State University.

Meet Sedrick "Deuce" Hill, a gifted signal-caller from Thomasville, Georgia, a place famous for producing football greats like William Andrews, Shawn Jones, Charlie Ward Jr., and many more. Along with Gabe Harris (UGA commit) and Adam Hopkins (Colorado Buffs commit), Deuce Hill stands out among the Big 3 prospects in the area and adds tremendous potential to the Yellow Jackets squad.

Deuce Hill attended Hapeville Charter High School, a school that receives little scouting attention. Despite this, Hill's talent and enthusiasm for the sport and the football coaches at Hapeville helped him land a position on the West Virginia State University team, where he will play against Morehead State University Eagles at Jayne Stadium on August 31.

The recent closure of Alderson Broaddus University, a fellow Division II institution that competes in the MEAC, has impacted the Yellow Jacket’s schedule as they were to meet on October 14th. This has now sparked rumors about possible prospects for student-athletes to find new homes in HBCUs like the CIAA, SIAC, or MEAC, which could benefit WVSU. The Division II Yellow Jackets football team had an outstanding season last fall, going 7-4 in the Mountain East Conference.

We had the opportunity to sit down with Deuce and his family as they prepared for this exciting chapter before he left for his nine-hour drive to West Virginia. Deuce brought along sentimental items like a Michael Jordan artwork and his old jerseys from Hapeville Charter, South Fulton, and Stephenson as souvenirs of his great journey up to this point in addition to basics like coats and boots to prepare for the colder West Virginia winter.

When asked how it feels to be a college football player, Hill told Truflix Network, “It feels good! It just feels like everything done paid off. My mom doesn’t have to pay for school.” He continued, “I would probably say I’m not even where I want to be right now [referring to his skill level], but right now it’s just a stepping stone.“

Deuce's parents, Sequoyah Hill and Sedrick Hill Sr. come from a sporting background since they were both college basketball players. Even his brother, who played for the University of Idaho, has experience in college football. Deuce's skills have unquestionably been greatly influenced by his sports heritage.

Deuce Hill has a well-established reputation as a Cam Newton 7v7 prodigy quarterback, supported by a strong resume that includes 12 touchdown passes and 1,967 throwing yards. The influence he will have on the landscape of college football is anxiously anticipated by viewers as he enters the Division II arena.

The excitement for Deuce Hill's debut at West Virginia State University grows as the season's start draws nearer. This rising star quarterback is prepared to have a huge influence on Division II football because of his talent, skill, and great sporting pedigree. All eyes will be on Deuce Hill as the Yellow Jackets prepare for their first game, anticipating the moment he steps onto the field and alters the game forever.
