The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that the outbreak had affected individuals across multiple states. A variety of charcuterie meats, specifically those produced by Fratelli Beretta USA Inc., were identified as the potential source. The recall involves approximately 11,097 pounds of Busseto Foods brand ready-to-eat charcuterie meat products.

Charcuterie, a term originally referring to pork products, now encompasses a wide range of ready-to-eat meats like salami, prosciutto, and soppressata. These items are staples in antipasto platters, gourmet sandwiches, and are popular for their convenience and rich flavors.

The recall specifically targets the Busseto Foods Charcuterie Sampler, which includes prosciutto, sweet soppressata, and dry coppa, sold in 18-ounce plastic tray packages. The distribution of these products spans across multiple states, including Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas.

    What is Salmonella?

Salmonella is a group of bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal illness in humans, commonly known as salmonellosis. Symptoms typically include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, and while most people recover without treatment, the infection can be severe in vulnerable populations.

Consumers who have purchased the affected products are advised not to consume them and either discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
