Widespread Technology Outage Affects Ithaca and Tompkins County Services
A global technology outage caused by an update issued overnight by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike is affecting local services in the City of Ithaca and Tompkins County. The update that caused the outage across the globe is said to be mainly affecting computers running Microsoft Windows, but in the past few hours has also led to flights being delayed or cancelled, interruptions to broadcasting and several other critical services such as healthcare and banking.

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Ithaca Common Council will discuss a new piece of proposed environmental legislation that aims to protect birds from untimely deaths. The Ithaca Common Council’s proposed ordinance, sponsored by Fourth Ward Alderperson Patrick Kuehl, would require all new buildings to meet the standard set by US Green Buildings Council’s Leed rating system to receive the Reducing Bird Collisions Credit.
