EUGENE — Three current and former Oregon Ducks qualified for the finals in the men’s and women’s 200 meters Friday at the U.S. Olympic trials in track and field. On the women’s side, former Oregon athlete Jenna Prandini and newly graduated Duck Jadyn Mays are headed to the final after competing in a high-level first heat. And for the men, former Oregon star Kyree King clinched his spot.

EUGENE — Nikki Hiltz came scooting off the final curve and down the home straight to win the women’s 1,500 meters Sunday in the U.S. Olympic trials at Hayward Field. Hiltz crossed the finish line in a meet-record 3 minutes, 55.33 seconds, breaking the record of 3:58.03 set by Elle St. Pierre in 2021.

EUGENE — Grant Fisher outdueled Abdihamid Nur on the home straight in an epic finish of the men’s 5,000 meters Sunday on a warm, breezy day at the U.S. Olympic trials. Fisher and Nur broke away from the pack over the last four laps, and the two traded the lead on the final lap. As they barreled down the home straight before an excited crowd of 12,243, Fisher had the lead. Nur pulled even, and Fisher used a last surge to cross the line first.

EUGENE — The moment does not appear too big for Jaida Ross, even if she admits to being mildly distracted by the spectacle of it all. The Oregon Ducks shot-putter, NCAA champion and collegiate record-holder comfortably advanced to the finals at the U.S. Olympic trials on Friday, finishing third (63-10 ¼, 19.46) in the first round of women’s shot put with 12 spots available in the final.
