¡Viva Tualatin! returns with activities designed to celebrate the city's diverse culture, art scene

¡Viva Tualatin! — an annual festival designed to celebrate the city’s diverse culture and art scene — returns for the fifth time to Tualatin Community Park this summer.

The free event is set from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 13, in the city’s largest park located at 8513 S.W. Tualatin Road.

“Attendees can enjoy lively performances, delicious cuisines, artisan vendors, and fun activities for all ages. It’s one of the ways the City of Tualatin makes an impact on our diverse communities. We are super proud of this event,” said Betsy Rodriguez Ruef, Tualatin’s community engagement coordinator.

Performances include Huehca Omeyocan (performing an Aztec dance) at 3 p.m., followed by Ballet Folklorico at 4:30 p.m. At 5:15 p.m., Ballet Folklorico will host a performance of La Charreria (featuring horsemanship and roping).

The final event of the day will be a 6:30 p.m. concert featuring A Cara O Cruz, a Latin band with rock and cumbia influences.

Throughout the celebration, young and old alike will have access to water slide, mechanical bull, crafts, face painting, coloring a giant mural and chalk art activities. A foam machine for children will be switched on at 2 p.m. and piñatas-breaking is set for both 2:30 and 6:30 p.m.

In addition, there will be a large assortment of unique treasures from talented artisans and vendors, featuring everything from art and clothing to candles, jewelry and more.

In 2019, ¡Viva Tualatin! replaced the city’s annual ArtSplash, which had highlighted local artists for two decades.
