Fire levy lid lift on August primary election ballot
Ballots are due by 8 p.m. on Election Day, August 6. Langley, Wash. – The South Whidbey Fire/EMS Board of Fire Commissioners has placed a fire levy lid lift on the August 6, 2024, primary election ballot. The lid lift would fund additional firefighters to reduce response times and replace fire engines and apparatus that have aged out of service.

Redmond High's health clinic gets upgrades to support student health
Even with school out for the summer, Redmond High School's medical clinic remains open for students and local children for primary care. School-based health centers have been operating in Oregon since 1986. They are primary care centers equipped with doctors, nurses and physician assistants. At Redmond High School, students also have access to dietitians, nutritionists, psychiatrists and therapists, though they aren’t stationed there all the time.

Everett motorcyclist dies on Highway 99
LYNNWOOD — An Everett motorcyclist died on Highway 99 Tuesday evening after overcorrecting when a car turned in front of him, according to the Washington State Patrol. Around 8:30 p.m., a man was riding a 2017 Honda VT1300 southbound on Highway 99 near Russell Way, according to the State Patrol.
Town ponders beefing-up right-of-way rules
The Coupeville Town Council might look into upgrading the town code to address what Mayor Molly Hughes described as the “questionable” use of the public right-of-way. The town has codes to regulate the use of the right-of-way, and each violation is a Class 3 Civil Infraction punishable with fines up to $50. However, as emerged from the meeting and a memo from the mayor, these rules are not specific nor strict enough for police officers to enforce.
