Writing Corner July 2024: Dear Writer
For the first time, I’m offering a much-loved class that has always been on site. I’m now offering Creative Writing Lab as a ZOOM class that includes unique in-class writing and reading of pieces as well as creativity stimulating hints and tricks. Over the years, many people have enjoyed the six-week version. This ZOOM group has 15 sessions from Wednesday July 17th to October 23rd. Oak Harbor Haggen on merger sale list
Haggen grocery store in Oak Harbor is on a list of 579 stores that will be sold off if the $25 billion merger between Kroger and Albertsons goes through. Under the proposed merger, the grocery stores would be sold to New Hampshire-based C&S Wholesale Grocers. As the Seattle Times reported, the theory is that selling the stores would preserve competition, but critics claimed that the sale would put the stores at risk of closure.

Everett council locks in building heights for Park District
EVERETT — The City Council unanimously approved the Everett Housing Authority’s rezoning plan to make way for a major development project in Baker Heights. The project aims to convert north Everett’s abandoned Baker Heights neighborhood into a 16-acre mixed-income development called the “Park District.” The development is expected to include 1,500 homes, a 1.5-acre public park, and 70,600 feet of retail, office and nonprofit space.
