South County Fire invites voters to several upcoming opportunities to learn about the benefit charge renewal on the August primary ballot, according to a news release. South County Fire is asking voters to consider a 10-year renewal of the benefit charge. The benefit charge was first approved by South County Fire voters in 2020 and reduces the maximum fire levy by a third. This applies to residents of Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier and nearby unincorporated areas that belong to the Regional Fire Authority. The charge does not affect Edmonds residents.

Arts Commission awards scholarship to MTHS grad Natalie Streuli
Natalie Streuli, a Mountlake Terrace High School graduate, was selected for the Manu Sood Scholarship by the Arts Advisory Commission, according to a news release. The annual $1,000 scholarship program was created in memory of Manu Sood and her commitment to the Mountlake Terrace community, including serving on the arts commission. The first scholarship was awarded in 2010.
School of Jazz guest DJ for July: Jaeden Rubio
Jaeden Rubio, a recent graduate of Lynnwood High School, makes a second appearance in the KNKX School of Jazz as the guest DJ on evening jazz Thursday night at 7. A year ago, Rubio attended a KNKX studio session featuring pianist Jahari Stampley and his trio. Though Rubio is a trumpet player, he was inspired by Stampley's passion for jazz - a passion the young man hopes to continue as an educator.
