Tulsa Police break up large truck meet in east Tulsa business parking lot

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department broke up a truck meet involving up to 80 trucks and over 100 people on Saturday in east Tulsa.

Police say they received a call that trucks and cars were doing burn-outs and donuts in a parking lot and people were drinking from cans that looked like beer near East 41st Street South and South Sheridan Road.

The parking lot has been a meeting place for these gatherings in the past. The property manager had asked TPD for increased monitoring because of the danger toward employees and pavement damage. The property manager also posted no trespassing signs and authorized TPD to issue citations and make arrests, police say.

Police say officers issued 14 trespassing citations and most of the people involved were from outside of Tulsa. Police say they were told the gathering was organized on social media as a tribute to a teen who died in a car crash.

If Tulsa business owners have similar issues in their parking lots they can contact a uniform division and request a trespass letter for the property, police say.

Trespassers can be arrested or cited at the officer's discretion. A citation can result in fines, jail time or community service.
