3 arrested after early morning chase in east Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Police said three are in custody after leading officers on a chase in east Tulsa on Thursday morning.

According to TPD, officers responded to a shots heard call outside of a home near 27th and Memorial at around 1 a.m.

The caller said they heard four shots coming from somewhere outside their house.

Once on scene, officers tried to stop a vehicle that was driving at a high rate of speed through the neighborhood near 31st and 129th East Avenue.

As officers walked up to the car, the driver sped off westbound and reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour on city streets and sped through several stop lights and signs.

After roughly 30 minutes, the driver made it onto Highway 169 and the Tulsa Police helicopter took over the chase.

Stop sticks were deployed to disable tires and the car finally stopped near 31st and Mingo.

The three people in the car ran off on foot.

The driver, 19-year-old Nicolaas Rueda, was caught while running through a nearby apartment complex and officers found a gun on the ground next to him after taking him into custody.

The two passengers, 18-year-old Jose Medrano and a 17-year-old, were also taken into custody.

Rueda was arrested for eluding and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Medrano and the 17-year-old were arrested for obstruction.
