Woman wanted in South Carolina kidnapping arrested in Mississippi casino

A woman wanted in connection to the kidnapping of a mother and her 8-year-old son in South Carolina was arrested at a Mississippi casino Thursday.
On Thursday, the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about an individual with outstanding warrants visiting a local casino.
Following an investigation, deputies apprehended Amy Perez, 45, of Union County, North Carolina. Perez was found to have several active warrants against her, including:
Intimidation of court officials, jurors, or witnesses
Impersonating a law enforcement officer
Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
Attempted murder
Kidnapping (two counts)
Burglary
Perez was arrested and transported to the Tunica County Jail, where she is being held.
The charges Perez faces are in connection with a kidnapping case out of South Carolina.
On Tuesday, May 28, the Chesterfield County, South Carolina, sheriff’s office was alerted to the abduction of a female and her 8-year-old son from an area home.
Deputies said they found both victims several hours later. The mother was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and her son was not hurt.
Two other individuals have been charged in connection with the abduction, and additional arrests are anticipated.
State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the Union County North Carolina Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) all assisted with the case.
The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with law enforcement officials from Chesterfield County regarding Perez’s apprehension.
