    Tupelo officials decide against public camping ordinance

    TUPELO — Last month, the highest court in the land ruled that the City of Grants Pass, Oregon, did not violate the constitution with its ordinance that outlawed camping on public property, a move tailored toward dismantling homeless encampments they believed were a problem.

    To advocates and city officials, this ruling has significant implications for the rest of the country. While the All-America City looked into potential ordinances following in line with the ruling, officials said they ultimately will not be moving forward with a public camping restriction.
