TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Brookshire’s has announced plans to re-open their World of Wildlife Museum next year. The new exhibit will be located at 6970 Arbor Ridge Drive, next door to FRESH. It’s set to open in early 2025, with reimagined storytelling focused on dozens of exotic animals from around the world, the company said.
Kilgore police to increase enforcement for statewide speed reduction campaign
KILGORE, Texas — Drivers in Kilgore should be prepared for increased law enforcement presence over the next few weeks as part of a statewide speed reduction campaign. The Kilgore Police Department announced that their annual accident analysis indicates speeding is one of the city's top contributors to accidents. "Speeding is dangerous and can cost you a hefty fine. Always drive to conditions and follow the speed limit," the department stated.

Whitehouse police captain accused of DWI allegedly involved in minor hit-and-run, affidavit says
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Tyler police arrested a Whitehouse police captain after responding to a hit-and-run report, an affidavit says. Tyler police were called out to 8988-110 S. Broadway Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday after a driver claimed to be the victim of a minor hit-and-run, according to an arrest affidavit. The victim reported that the other person seemed to have been intoxicated.

Tyler Fire Department to conduct fire safety blitz
TYLER – The Tyler Fire Department is teaming up with the South Tyler Rotary Club to go door-to-door on Friday July 19 and 26 to check smoke alarms, replace batteries and install free smoke alarms in homes that need them. Firefighters will concentrate on houses near Woldert Park and the Caldwell Zoo due to a recent house fire with no smoke alarms. The Tyler Fire Department reports that the risk of dying in a home structure fire is approximately 50 percent lower in homes with working smoke alarms. They would also like to remind residents that if their smoke alarm sounds, they should get outside and stay outside. It’s important to respond rapidly.

17-year-old opens his own barbershop in Tyler
Tyler resident Antonio Medina, 17, has opened up his own barbershop after over a year of planning. Medina started cutting hair at the age of 13 in his mom’s kitchen. He decided he wanted to pursue being a barber and went to RISE Academy so he could graduate early. He graduated in May of this year. On June 10, he opened 903 Cutz.

The national average for a gallon of gas rose three cents to $3.54 from last week. The slight nudge higher came despite Hurricane Beryl smacking into the coast of Texas, a record number of July 4th car travelers, and oil costs hovering above $80 per barrel.
