    Pedestrian dies three days after being struck by vehicle in downtown Tuscaloosa

    A 47-year-old man died Monday, three days after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Tuscaloosa.

    Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman with the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said TPD officers responded to an accident involving a pedestrian in downtown Tuscaloosa at 11:30 p.m. June 28.

    Taylor said John Thomas Bigham, of Cottondale was struck by an oncoming vehicle while crossing University Boulevard at the 23rd Avenue crosswalk. He was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center and later transferred to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

    Bigham died Monday morning from his injuries at UAB, Taylor said.

    Members of Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded to the accident and are conducting the investigation.
