The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball program landed a commitment from USC Upstate transfer pitcher Trent Hodgdon. Hodgdon announced the news via social media on Tuesday evening.

Hodgdon became the third pitcher that has transferred to the Crimson Tide this offseason. He joins future teammates Aeden Finateri and Carson Ozmer.

Hodgdon, a native of Smiths Station, Alabama began his college career at West Virginia. During his freshman season, Hodgdon made 10 appearances on the mound for the Mountaineers. He threw eight innings and struck out 12 batters. In addition, he finished the season with a 5.63 earned run average.

Following the conclusion of his freshman season, Hodgdon transferred to USC Upstate. During his sophomore season, he threw 16.1 innings, allowed 12 hits, and struck out 24 batters. Hodgdon also held a 5.51 earned run average. He finished the season with a 0-1 record.

As a sophomore, Hodgdon saw an increased role in the Spartans bullpen. In 24 games, he struck out 51 batters while allowing 29 hits in 31.2 innings pitched. He boasted a 7.39 earned run average and held a 2-3 record.

Hodgdon should add a veteran arm to Alabama’s bullpen. He will help aid in replacing former Alabama reliever Alton Davis II. Davis II transferred to the Georgia Bulldogs this offseason.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest regarding the Alabama baseball program.
