Former Alabama Crimson Tide HC Nick Saban denied access to SEC Media Days in hilarious fashion

While it's been over seven months since Nick Saban retired from coaching the Alabama Crimson Tide, the old ball coach is still getting used to his new gig.

Now a credentialed media member, anyone who covers sports knows that access typically isn't granted to such events without your credentials.

Turns out Nick Saban found that out the hard way.

Saban Denied SEC Media Days Access After Forgetting Credentials

"It's a little different, Saban told Mike Greenberg of ESPN's Get Up on Monday when asked about his experience as a media member. "I've never worn a credential in my life and was always for 17 years able to get into SEC Media Day without a credential. I had to go back to the room today and get my credential to get in."

To me, this was either someone taking their job way too seriously, or just being completely aloof to college football as a whole. I mean Coach Saban is so well known that he could walk the streets of just about anywhere in the United States and someone would know who he is, much less in the heart of SEC country.

Funny enough, Saban played it off and was as humble as he always is, though part of him had to be like: "You've got to be kidding me." For Saban, being on the media side of things is different, but we have already seen him dominate on The Pat McAfee Show and with College Gameday's coverage of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Of course, Saban's real media experience will begin when he becomes a full-time host on Gameday this fall, but he should be expected to ace that the same way he did all his years at Alabama.

What Saban gleans from Alabama's media days will be telling, particularly when you consider that he has been integral in the smooth transition from his coaching staff to that of Kalen DeBoer's.

Saban announced when he was retiring that he would have a hand in all things Alabama, and that is evidenced by the Tide's 2025 recruiting class, as Alabama took a lead in the rankings following the commitments of multiple big-time recruits .

It's safe to say that Alabama is in good hands both now and in the foreseeable future as they prepare for what is one of the most anticipated college football seasons in some time.
