Kalen DeBoer Reveals How Alabama QB Jalen Milroe Can Win the Heisman

Kalen DeBoer is the new head coach at Alabama and many are curious to see how the Crimson Tide will fare this season. During an interview, DeBoer revealed how Jalen Milroe could play well enough to win the coveted Heisman Trophy. DeBoer's thoughts carry weight because he helped Michael Penix Jr. become a candidate last season.
During a sit-down interview with Joel Klatt of Fox Sports, DeBoer was asked what he'll bring to the table for Alabama's offense and how he can help Jalen Milroe win a Heisman. The Crimson Tide head coach explained it will be a team effort. Additionally, DeBoer spoke about his long history of playing different offenses to suit his players' strengths.
"It's Jalen, but at the same time, it's also the guys around him. And I think our system, you know when you've done it for 25 years and you've adjusted to the guys. ... You're adjusting to the guys that you have."
Milroe looked fantastic as the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback last season. He has an opportunity to play even better with DeBoer leading the way. DeBoer is known for being one of the best offensive-minded coaches in the college football.
That's not taking anything away from Nick Saban either. Alabama is going to look different this season, and it could largely benefit Milroe. Last season, he finished with an impressive 2,834 passing yards, 35 total touchdowns and a 65.8 completion percentage.
Alabama should remain one of the best football programs in the country this season. DeBoer has a long history of success and is coming off a national title game run with the Washington Huskies.
Bringing that offensive prowess to Alabama could be a winning combo for the Crimson Tide. They've done a great job recruiting this offseason; they're ranked No 2. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide also ranked No. 3 in acquiring players through the transfer portal, according to 247 Sports.
It's a new era but it might just be the same ol' Alabama. Look for DeBoer to lead the Crimson Tide to a successful season, and the playoffs are a realistic possibility even if the SEC is more stacked thanks to the conference realignment.
The Crimson Tide begin their season on Aug. 31 against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. All eyes are on the Sept. 28 matchup with Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.
