    Alabama football picked to finish third in the SEC, 16 players named to the Preseason All-SEC Team

    Alabama football has been picked to finish third in the Southeastern Conference and 16 of its players have been named to the Preseason All-SEC Team in a vote of media attending SEC Media Days.

    Georgia was picked to finish first in the SEC with 3,330 points and was picked to win the SEC Championship come Dec. 7, while Texas was picked to finish second with 3,041 points and in its first year in the SEC. Alabama received 2,891 points to come in third.

    Offensive lineman Tyler Booker was named to First-Team offense while offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor and center Parker Brailsford were named to the Second-Team. Quarterback Jalen Milroe, running back Justice Haynes and offensive lineman Jaeden Roberts were each selected to the Third-Team.

    On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Deontae Lawson and defensive back Malachi Moore were named to First-Team. Defensive lineman Tim Smith was named to the Second-Team while fellow defensive lineman Tim Keenan III, linebacker Jihaad Campbell and defensive backs Domani Jackson and Keon Sabb were named to the Third-Team.

    As for specialists, punter James Burnip was named to the First-Team along with long snapper Kneeland Hibbett. Placekicker Graham Nicholson also earned Second-Team honors.

    The Crimson Tide gets its 2024 season underway in just over a month, hosting Western Kentucky on Aug. 31 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. It gets SEC play started three weeks later, hosting Georgia on Sept. 28.
