TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WIAT ) –The city of Tuscaloosa has placed 10 additional roll-off dumpsters for University of Alabama students to use during move in and move out until Aug. 21.

UA student Matt Dupps is a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio. He moved him into his new apartment Thursday morning. He said he appreciates how the city is taking helps to help students who are moving in while some are moving out.

“From past experiences, I’ve moved in twice already, and we’ve never had access to a garbage dumpster, and we would have to find a location further near campus,” Dupps said. “So having these locations nearby really helps moving in and out more efficiently and more faster, and I think it’s a great idea and helps lots of students move in and out.”

Barnes Heath from Tuscaloosa Environmental Services said the dumpsters were added to assist students and their families in the removal of household waste during moving.

“It is really to help the move in and move out to help students and their excess furniture and move-in, move-out material that might get thrown away or whatever,” Heath said. “It’s important for cleanliness of the city, mainly to give them an avenue where they can dispose of the trash items.”

Locations for the dumpsters are 893 Parkview Dr., Cloverdale Drive at Meador Drive, 300 Thomas St., Seventh Avenue and 12th Street, Eighth Avenue and 11th Street, 11th Avenue and 12th Street, 12th Street behind Tutwiler Hall, 12th Street and 14th Avenue plus Eighth Avenue and 13th Street.

Classes for the fall semester start at the UA on Aug. 21.
