Imagine a 6-5, 352-pound offensive guard with imposing power and really impressive foot speed and flexibility for that size. Now imagine that physical profile at only 20 years old, with a ton of upside left to tap into. Pretty terrifying, right?

That’s what Alabama has with offensive guard Tyler Booker, who is coming off of a second team All-SEC selection following his 2023 season efforts, coming in at No. 8 on this list of most frightening college football players coming back this fall. That comes off of his freshman season in 2022 where Booker was selected as an All-SEC freshman pick, as well as garnering a place on the Freshman All-American team.

Booker has been the definition of dominant for the Crimson Tide over the last two years. Even in his matchups against some of the more notable defensive linemen in the conference, with more recognizable names, Booker has more than held his own. Just watch Alabama’s game against Texas A&M last season. It’s rumored that Walter Nolen can’t even look Booker in the eye after what he did to him in that contest.

Based on Booker’s recruiting background, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that he has turned into one of the better offensive linemen in all of college football. He was considered a near consensus top 100 recruit by every major recruiting platform in the 2022 recruiting class coming out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy.

Booker originally attended Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic before heading down to IMG Academy for his final two seasons. Both On3 and ESPN had him rated as a five-star recruit, sitting at No. 14 and No. 11 overall respectively.

Now heading into the 2024 season, Booker is being projected as one of the first offensive linemen to be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft potentially. With big matchups against the Georgia defensive line (Warren Brinson, Nazir Stackhouse), as well as an underrated matchup against Wisconsin’s James Thompson Jr., Booker will be tested this upcoming fall.
