    'Sean of the South' to perform music, storytelling show at the Bama Theatre

    Sean Dietrich, aka Sean of the South , will perform his first Bama Theatre show Sept. 21.

    He'll be accompanied by his band the Grand Ole Optimists for the performance. Dietrich is a multi-instrumentalist — guitar, banjo, fiddle, accordion and piano — and writer. His "Sean of the South — Live" show, 6-8 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Bama, 600 Greensboro Ave. in downtown Tuscaloosa, will include a mix of storytelling and music.

    Dietrich is a columnist and novelist whose work has appeared in Southern Living, The Tallahassee Democrat, Good Grit, South Magazine, Alabama Living, the Birmingham News, Thom Magazine, and The Mobile Press Register. He's authored books including the 2019 novel "Stars of Alabama," short story collections, and a memoir, the 2020 "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." Since 2014 he's written a blog called " Sean of the South ."

    Doors will open at 5 p.m. for the Bama show. Tickets are $39.50 and $51.50, including fees, online at tuscarts.org/event/sean-of-the-south-live .
