AUSTIN, Minn. – The Austin Artworks Festival will celebrate its 13th anniversary in August. The featured artists at the event on August 24 and August 25 will be Ta-coumba T. Aiken, a painter and public fine arts activist living in St. Paul. Festival organizers say Aiken calls his abstract style, Superlative Realism - it combines two drawing styles, rhythm patterns and spirit writing. As a colorblind artist he starts all of his works using black marks on primarily white surfaces creating an outline composition like blueprints or coloring books, and then adds color.
