Two-week operation at Civic Park and Econo Lodge in Moses Lake nets handfuls of arrests related to drugs
In a two-week operation, the Moses Lake Police Street Crimes Unit, in coordination with the Grant County Sheriff's Office Crime Reduction Team and Jail, targeted illegal activities in Civic Park, including areas around the Library and the Econo Lodge. The operation, which involved surveillance and the use of both uniformed and plainclothes officers and detectives, resulted in the detention or arrest of eight individuals.

Spokane Police respond to two drive-by shootings Tuesday night
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department said they responded to two shootings that happened within 30 minutes of each other Tuesday night. According to SPD, officers responded to several reports of gunshots near Lincoln Street and Cleveland Avenue, with callers reporting to police that shots were fired from a black vehicle that fled. SPD could not find any victims.

Edmonds resident and My Edmonds News contributor Kevin O’Keeffe shared these photos of the Pioneer wildfire, which has been burning since June near Lake Chelan. “One could wander around Stehekin oblivious of its existence but when you returned to the excursion boat dock, there it was looming nearby,” he said. “The down lake boat paused by the fire so we were able to see the towering smoke plume and the latest area of devastation. We could also see the attempt at control by two planes scooping water from the lake and a helicopter dipping a bucket.” The Lady of the Lake boats were not operating Thursday, “possibly remaining available for evacuation purposes,” he said. Wildfire Forcing Evacuation Of Juliaetta At 2,000 Acres Structures Lost-Second Large Fire South Of Troy
A new wildfire South of Juliaetta is forcing the town to be evacuated. Latah County Sheriff’s Deputies are evacuating the town along the Potlatch River due to the Gwen Fire which has burned over 2,000 acres. Initial reports indicate that structures have been lost. Firefighters are battling the blaze from the ground with support from aircraft making water drops on the flames. Evacuees can go to the Latah County Fairgrounds in Moscow. State Highway 3 is closed South of Juliaetta. The Latah County Commissioners will consider continuing their emergency declaration for wildfires. The board first approved the declaration last week when Texas Fire erupted nearby East of Kendrick torching four homes.
